(Photo by Romeo Ranoco/Reuters)      The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council decided that they’ll hold a nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill to help people boost our preparedness in preparation for the big one or any other big earthquakes that we unknowingly preparing.
Holding a drill like this is really an advantage to people not only for the big one but also to other earthquakes that will come. This is not only places in NCR but a nationwide event which include students and workers alike.

Since the Philippines is within the perimeter of the pacific ring of fire, we frequently experience seismic and volcanic tremors. This year we’ve encountered countless of earthquakes whether slight or big quakes. However, having small tremors are a good sign since the earth continuously releases heat from the core. Nevertheless, do not be relieved since the fault line along Manila haven’t been quaking a long amount of time and the less active a fault line is the more the energy are accumulated and the strength of its magnitude.
So for us students, it is good practicing a drill like this for us to be ready to all casualties, cause no one can predict this kind of event. Schools cannot close in advance neither can we suspend classes while an earthquake is ongoing. The best we can do is to create an emergency plan so we can install in the minds of the student how the correct procedure works.
