It is a significant day
celebrated by many of us but mourned by some. The independence of our country,
the freedom we have met thanks to the people who were brave enough to stand and
fight those who imprisoned us in our country for more than 300 years. They are
claimed as the bravest, patriotic, and the most heroic of all heroes. They
embraced whatever fate befell them in the name of their love for this country.
But do we really appreciate this freedom led by these heroes who were only
soldiers filled with love?
It was
the day the heroes are needed to be praised but we never see what their effort to achieve
the freedom we have now. They shed their own lives and risk everything they
have just to ignite nationalism in the heart of our forefathers. Their effort
goes in vain because we their children has long been savoring the price of
their blood.

Seeing
at this moment generation by generation things have changed. Human beings kills
themselves thinking the freedom they long for cannot be given to them. But did
ever thing of positive side that we are more free that in the past. We never
really considered the past but we only think of our own self. They were
thinking about us when they suffered. They were the people who sacrificed their
own life just for us future children.
Still the influence of those who imprisoned us still runs in our blood. The
way we act in their tradition remains, the way we think, the way we dress and
the we carry out our lives. But still the way we depend from other countries
remained. We remain to be a toys to be played, we remain to be oppressed and we remain
colonized by our own thoughts. That why we tend to be the foe of our own
selves.
And
just I realized that they were never happy. They never get to love who they
want to love. And never return to their family. They were being clutched by us
Filipinos who wants someone to save them. But they were relieved that they got
to serve and give us freedom. They were selfless and risked everything they
have. But we just have to remember,
whatever it takes. We are still the Filipinos who fight for our own freedom,
who always think what’s right for the country. Thank the ones who paved the way
for us. There is still a time to remember, it's not too late.
